Joy Grussling’s journey to become a mental health counselor started later in life, but her desire to become a counselor began in her 20’s. Her experiences in life led her to seek her own counseling to heal from the effects of abuse and to find forgiveness and freedom that only God can give. Her experiences and healing in her own life have enabled her to be able to relate to others in their own personal struggles. Joy has also experienced what it is like to have cancer and has gone through chemo and radiation therapy and is now cancer free for more than 5 years by the grace of God.

Joy earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. She is currently completing courses for her Master of Arts Degree, also at Liberty University.  She is under Master’s Level Supervision as she completes the requirements for licensure in Florida.

Philosophy of Christian Counseling:

“As a counselor, my goal is to offer a safe place for my clients to open and share the pain and struggles in their lives. I come alongside them to empower and lead them to the ultimate healer all our wounds, Jesus Christ. As a counselor, I engage with my clients as they tell their stories and integrate psychological techniques with Godly wisdom, scripture, and prayer, if my clients desire and when appropriate. I am committed to helping my clients heal their past and present hurts from relational, physical, mental, emotional, or sexual abuses that have happened in their lives. As 2 Corinthians 1:4 (TPT) says, “He always comes alongside us to comfort us in every suffering so that we can come alongside those who are in any painful trial. We can bring them this same comfort that God has poured out upon us.”
